Policies
Hollyburn Chalet is a heritage cabin, and a significant landmark within the historic Hollyburn Ridge cabin community. As Guides we are stewards of this important building and its surroundings. As a Girl Guide property, it is in high demand. These policies help us manage the cabin and care for its continued use and enjoyment.
VANDALISM
Vandalism, including graffiti, name-carving, or other destructive activities will not be tolerated. Repairs are difficult and costly to undertake, particularly because of the remote nature of the cabin.
A remediation charge of $75 will be levied for EACH instance of vandalism attributed to any individual camper or unit. If you discover damage caused by campers within your unit, or by previous campers, please report this to the cabin caretakers for prompt repair or repainting. Supply a photo if possible, so appropriate materials can be packed in to the cabin to complete the repairs.
PAYMENT POLICIES
After your booking is confirmed, you will be requested to supply your Unified Banking number. When your camp is confirmed, and gear rentals, crest purchases, and other applicable fees noted, your Unified Banking account will be debited and the funds transferred to Hollyburn Chalet.
For units outside of the Unified Banking system (out of Area, out of Province), your deposit will be due and payable within two weeks of your camp being confirmed. Your camp date may be given away if you have not made arrangements with the booking agent for a late payment.
After your camp, you have two weeks to pay the balance owing on your camp.
TO OBTAIN A KEY, CRESTS & GEAR
Contact the Caretaker two weeks prior to your camp to coordinate gear / key pickup date. Return the gear no later than the Tuesday immediately following your weekend camp to ensure the next group has access to these items.
You must supply a participant list to the Caretaker in order to receive a key.
GEAR RETURNS
All gear must be returned in suitably clean and dry condition. Snowshoes dry best when stood on end rather than stacked. Backpacks, poles, and sleds should be wiped down. Items returned in unacceptable condition may incur a cleaning charge.
